Bo Horvat's Injury Update Following Islanders' Victory
ELMONT, NY ? During the New York Islanders' 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, star center Bo Horvat left the game in the second period due to a left-leg injury. Head coach Patrick Roy classified it as a lower-body injury and indicated that Horvat's status is currently day-to-day.
The injury occurred when Horvat's right skate became entangled with Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson's, causing him to fall awkwardly and injure his left ankle. After briefly remaining on the ice, he exited to the locker room.
In Horvat's absence, Mathew Barzal assumed the first-line center position, while Jean-Gabriel Pageau transitioned from wing to center on the second line, with Simon Holmstrom stepping in on the right wing. This injury adds to the Islanders' ongoing challenges this season, as key players Alex Romanov and Kyle Palmieri are already sidelined for the remainder of the regular season due to previous injuries. Captain Anders Lee emphasized the team's resilience in facing these adversities as they strive for playoff contention.

stars on ice is always fantastic
I hesitate to name favorites among the skaters, since they are all amazing, good, and work so hard, and each at one moment or another managed to take my breath away. But... am going to name Meryl Davis and Adam Rippon in particular as two whose skating truly reaches a higher level - more into the realm of ballet than sport. I wish that the whole skating world would strive for such clarity of line, musical flow, nuance of expression as these two are able to achieve. As I say though, every single one of the skaters in SOI is immensely accomplished. The choreography only gets better and better every year, and often does more than justice to the music which in some instances maybe could have been better... I mean I don't care what genre it is, just avoid the ones with muddy singing, so-so melody... that said, the songs at least all had engaging rhythm.
